Here are some words from the artist...
I have been creating in one form or another since I can remember. I enjoy all
aspects of the creative process. From the conception of the new idea, to putting the idea on
paper, to choosing the materials, to taking all the steps necessary to bring the idea to life,
until the final hand polish. I love pondering the idea, letting it simmer in my head until it feels
as primed as possible, and then watching it unfold into the vision, I have seen.
Inspiration for my work comes to me in a variety of ways. I draw inspiration from
nature in it’s many different forms such as, flowers, leaves, seed pods, branches and stems
and I wonder how I can incorporate the beauty I see into my craft. I gather ideas and insight
about my own work by learning from others. There is always something beneficial, to bring
to my studio and art, from attending a workshop. I appreciate learning new ways to fabricate
a jewelry piece.
I take great pleasure in picking out the materials I use to construct jewelry.
Sometimes I prefer mixing metals such as copper, brass or silver, or using semi-precious
stones with distinctive colors or characteristics. Other times I mix silver with a medium such
as polymer clay or faux bone. In addition, I find satisfaction with adding enamels to my
metal for a burst of color and intensity. It thrills me to marry many of these different
materials into a single piece of jewelry that is as unique and diverse as each of us. |
